We closed on our land purchase last October, after we already had left for Jakarta. So, this summer was the first time we could walk around on it as owners. It was such a weird feeling to know that this was our little piece of paradise. We had a great time exploring the property and imagining our future life there. We also got to cut some trails, and met with a guy from the DNR to explore forest management plans for the future. Plus, we had a picnic there for the very first time!
One of the things that was most fun was taking people there. It was lovely to see folks get as excited about the land as we are. Another great plus of our property is its proximity to the Upper Iowa River. After touring our land, we got to do a float trip with family. It was a beautiful day to be out on the water.
Besides getting to know our property, we also did a lot of visiting with family, and managed to get out on our bikes a bit. It was a fantastic summer, and we’re looking forward to what next year will bring!
